Frequently Asked Questions
What training do you have?
I keep adding to my training and learning! My “training” began with watching my mom care for babies and babysitting as a teen. I also have a BA in Psychology with several child development courses. I am also a mom of 3 young adults. Most recently I have gained newborn care specialist training through Newborn Care Solutions and postpartum doula training through CAPPA. I am also up to date on my first aid & CPR (infant, child & adult) certification. I’m now working my way through a pile of books and podcast.
What is a newborn care specialist?
A newborn specialist delivers expert care for newborn babies and advice for their parents. For a period of one week to four months, a newborn specialist will provide in home care of newborns to ease the transition of bringing a new baby or babies into the family.
What is a postpartum doula?
A postpartum doula provides information on things such as infant feeding, emotional and physical recovery from birth, mother-baby bonding, infant soothing, and basic newborn care. A doula cares for the the family following the birth or adoption of a baby. A doula can also care for a family following a pregnancy loss. Research shows that moms, dads, and babies have an easier time with this transition if a good support team is in place.
